Sculptures on the Karl Stirner Arts Trail
Between Simon Silk Mill on 13th Street and Lafayette College, the trail features more than 15 works of art, which includes sculptures, poetry, horticulture, and neon lights. The Karl Stirner Arts Trail seeks to stir the public imagination in the Easton community.
The Arch
Easton sculptor Karl Stirner created the red arch as the entryway to the trail. This brightly colored sculpture was designed specifically for the trail out of metal scraps from Bethlehem Steel, shipwrecks, and a junkyard! You know what they say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
The Tree of 40 Fruit
Pennsylvania native, Sam Van Aken, created The Tree of 40 fruit from the ground up, literally! The tree blossoms an array of colorful flowers during the springtime, and evolves into a diverse variety of fruits come summer!
Musical Path
Walk to the rhythm of musical chimes as you explore the trail. Students and faculty members from Lafayette College created Musical Path. The artists encourage walkers to pick up random twigs and sticks to run along the fences of chimes. It’s a unique way to interact with the artwork and make music!
What Else Is Along the Trail?
Bring your furry friend along for the walk as well. There’s a dog park in the middle of the trail! You also have a view of Bushkill Creek as the entire trail runs beside the waterway and even crosses over it with a pedestrian bridge to the Simon Silk Mill.
Karl Stirner Arts Movies
Keep up with the trail’s events calendar because they offer Movies Along the Trail on some summer nights. It’s a fantastic way to get the family together for some flicks under the stars.
